Interview with Rana Kory IT Systems Administrator
/In celebration of Worley Erhart-Graves Financial Advisors’ 20th Anniversary, we asked Rana Kory, IT Systems Administrator, a few questions about her journey with Worley Erhart-Graves Financial Advisors over the past 20 years.
Q. Favorite Place Traveled and why?
This is the toughest question you can ask me! It took me some time to really think because I have had some amazing experiences. But it came down to New York City. In 2015 I ran the New York City Marathon which runs through all the boroughs and over famous bridges! Even going to the marathon expo was a great experience. There are millions of spectators along the route. I was also able to visit the Statue of Liberty, take a pedicab tour of Central Park, visit the Museum of Natural History, go up the One World Trade Center, and hang out at Time Square on Halloween (lots of great costumes!) All-in-all, it was a trip I’ll never forget!
Q. Who or what shaped you as who you are today?
A. My spirituality and faith have helped me through some hard times. I feel God has shaped me into who I am today. I struggle with a disability and it has not been easy. But I’ve done a lot of learning and growing from it because of my faith.
Q. What do you enjoy most about your job?
A. What I like most about my job is the people I work with. Everyone is sincere, honest, truly caring for each other and our clients. Everyone really cares about the company and its success, especially me, because my sister owns the company. I will bend over backwards for her. Did I mention Juli is the best boss? Her motto is work/family balance. She makes sure everyone has time for their family. So, what I enjoy most about my job is pretty much everything! I love my job!
Q. How has technology improved the way the planners and employees perform their jobs?
A. I started working for Worley Erhart-Graves Financial Advisors in July of 2000. We pretty much had a database, a couple of programs, a copier, printers, and that is about it. Websites were generic at best. I had to create ours from scratch. Eventually I implemented a scanner system that would automatically scan directly to a folder. Today, scanning systems are simple and easy to use. I continued to program the database to be more effective over time. I created macros (in easy terms - I programmed it so you can make a bunch of things happen with a push of a button). Cloud-based programs became the norm. Over the last 20 years, technology has either allowed programs to be more automated or allowed me to program with more automation. Now, with a push of a button, the planners can export data from a program, push a button and have it format into a readable, brand standard report. Websites are easily updated. Technology is continually updating, and as the IT Administrator, I will continue to make sure that our company is staying efficient and smart!
Q. With the recent events, how has your position changed within the company?
A. For the past several years, you may have known me as the Investment Services Administrator and/or the IT Administrator. Recently, I am very excited to announce that I am now just the IT Administrator. Our company has been growing over that past few years and we have found that I was staying quite busy in the IT role. My responsibilities include cybersecurity and ensuring the organization’s computer systems are all running smoothly. I also will be doing projects to improve efficiencies.
